Tamil Nadu is preparing to launch a cutting-edge technology platform aimed at tracking the progress of large-scale infrastructure projects in real time, according to a New Indian Express report.
The system, developed by the Tamil Nadu e-Governance Agency (TNeGA), will monitor 370 major projects, each valued at over Rs 100 crore, across 14 government departments.
By centralising updates on physical and financial progress, the platform will allow officials to swiftly identify and resolve inter-departmental bottlenecks, improving accountability and accelerating decision-making.
A high-level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary N Muruganandam was recently convened to review the new project-monitoring system, which follows push from the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).
While DPIIT has encouraged states to adopt the central Project Monitoring Group (PMG) portal, Tamil Nadu has opted to develop a bespoke platform tailored to its own operational state-level requirements.
The dashboard will serve as a single-window interface, providing pendency tracking, automated alerts for nodal officers, and a clear view of issue resolution status.
Central government projects, including those led by the railways and NHAI, will also be tracked, creating a unified view for both New Delhi and Chennai.
Departments may optionally include strategically significant projects under Rs 100 crore.
Officials emphasised that the initiative is designed to ensure that iconic and high-value projects do not get stuck in procedural deadlock, while real-time data will enhance predictability for contractors, financiers, and developers.
