Tesla's Cheapest Car Might Hit Indian Markets Soon, Media Reports Suggest

The most affordable Tesla model, which is a two-door vehicle priced at 25,000 Euros, is slated for a launch in India after its launch in Germany.

Despite the absence of an official announcement from billionaire Elon Musk's Tesla regarding its entry into India, the US-based automotive and clean energy company is set to begin importing some of its models from next year. The automaker has not yet explicitly shared further details or the name of the model to be imported.

Though specifics about the products being contemplated for India are still vague, insiders linked to the company reportedly informed Moneycontrol.com that the Model Y Crossover will be the inaugural model to be introduced in the nation.

Trade Minister Piyush Goyal previously stated that Tesla intends to increase the quantity of components it imports from India by twofold.

Goyal expressed his pride on X, formerly known as Twitter, over the increasing significance of Indian auto component suppliers in the Tesla EV supply chain. He made this statement after his visit to Tesla's production plant in Fremont, California, noting that the company is set to double its component imports from India.

In September, Goyal stated that Tesla had set a goal to procure components from India worth anywhere from $1.7 billion to $1.9 billion for this year, a significant increase from the $1 billion worth of components it purchased the previous year.
