Liquor in tetra packs
Newly appointed Excise and Prohibition Minister S Muthusamy has said that the government is considering the sale of liquor in tetra packs and has set up a team to study its feasibility.
Highlighting issues with using bottles, he said that the ones that are re-usable are often not cleaned properly and sometimes they get broken and damaged.
Further, he said that tetra packs could solve the problem of adulteration.
The proposal has been strongly opposed by Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) leader Anbumani Ramadoss.
Further, he said that he does not think that tetra packs could solve the issue of adulteration and it could lead to misuse and underage drinking.
