Campus Front of India which has been accused of fuelling the Hijab protests in Udupi that have now caught international attention has sought that the decision in the issue better be in their favour. Holding a press conference in Udupi here today, the CFI said it would welcome if the decision comes in their favour, failing which their battle against the government will continue.

CFI State President Athaulla Punjalkatte accused the Udupi MLA and Udupi Womens PU College CDC President Raghupati Bhat and Vice President Yashpal Suvarna of inciting the Hijab controversy and the Education Minister B C Nagesh of ‘covering up the misdeeds of the ABVP and the Sangh Parivar’.

As reported by Daijiworld, the CFI also called the silence of the chief minister ’despite the untoward incidents‘ in the state ironic.

He also condemned Nagesh’s ‘baseless allegations‘ against CFI, ‘despite various violent incidents having taken place due to the instigations of the ABVP and Sangh Parivvar’.

“ When it comes to the Hijab, the CFI will be at the forefront in favour of the constitutional rights of the girls and fight for them legally,” added Punjalkatte at the press conference held at the Udupi Press Club. The CFI has also sought that the court grant permission to wear a scarf till the judgement comes out, and expressed ‘hope that the High Court Verdict on the Hijab controversy will most likely be in their favour as per the constitution’.
