PM Narendra Modi
As the Winter Session of the Parliament began today (25 November), Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged healthy and contributory discussions in the House while attacking the Opposition leaders for creating a ruckus.
"Those rejected by the people, try to control the Parliament by creating a ruckus. People note their behaviour and when the time comes, also punish them. But the painful thing is that new members do not even get a chance to speak in the House because of this," he said.
Modi said that every generation should work to nourish the next generation in democratic traditions. Still, those rejected by the people '80-90 times,' referring to the Congress losses in state elections since 2014, do not let discussions happen in the House.
He urged the opposition leaders to respect the people's concerns and work for them and acknowledged the responsible behaviour of many opposition leaders. However, he attacked 'those who have been rejected by the people for disrespecting democracy.'
"Behaviour in parliament should complement India's raised stature at the global level. India's parliament should send the message of dedication to democracy and constitution," Modi said urging for a comprehensive discussion in the Parliament.
