Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday (4 September) took a dig at the opposition, accusing them of sheltering mafia, criminals, and rioters.

The UP Chief Minister said this while addressing a gathering at a district-level large-scale employment and loan distribution fair at the Kendriya Vidyalaya in the IFFCO campus in Prayagraj's Phulpur.

During the event, CM Yogi distributed appointment letters to over 5,000 youths and handed out loans exceeding Rs 510 crore to 7,138 beneficiaries.

In his speech, CM Yogi emphasised that the opposition had provided protection to criminal elements.

In a veiled attack on SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, CM Yogi said that "Tipu" who dreams of becoming a "Sultan", bowed before the mafia.

He accused the Opposition of turning the mafia into a symbol of pride, thereby creating an identity crisis for Prayagraj.

He emphasised that ensuring the safety of every citizen is the government's duty, and it will be upheld at any cost.

He added that any mafia that tries to rise will be crushed to the ground, referring to the UP government's action against criminal elements in the state, including razing their properties using bulldozers.

"It takes real guts to drive a bulldozer," he remarked.

He also questioned whether those who bow down before the mafia, rioters, and criminals would ever have the courage to run bulldozer over their assets.

"They would have a heart attack just by seeing a bulldozer," he quipped.
