The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested three people in the last 24 hours in the NEET-UG paper leak case. Two were arrested from Bihar on Tuesday (9 July) and one from Maharashtra on Monday.

The two arrests from Bihar were made in Nalanda and Gaya districts. Among the arrested individuals, one is a candidate, and other is a father of another candidate, as per CBI sources.

From Maharashtra's Latur, Nanjune Dhppa was arrested for claiming that he could increase the marks of the students and took money from them for marks inflation in NEET-UG exam.

Earlier too, a connection between Maharashtra and Bihar was found as the Maharashtra Police uncovered a racket in Latur with over a dozen admit cards belonging to students who appeared to be from Bihar.

Manish Kumar was reportedly involved in transporting students using his car and allegedly arranged for an unused school where around two dozen students were provided with the leaked exam paper to memorise it.

Ashutosh reportedly provided accommodation for the students at his home. Around 24 lakh students sat for the NEET-UG 2024 exam, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), for medical courses on 5 May.

The results of the exam were declared on 4 June, 10 days earlier than scheduled. However, taking note of the controversies surrounding them, the NTA has postponed the counseling.

Meanwhile, the matter is also being heard in the Supreme Court, with the next hearing scheduled for Thursday, where the NTA has been asked to disclose the steps taken by it.
