Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) declared six more candidates for the Lok Sabha elections on Thursday (2 May). Among the declared names, three are Muslims.

While the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Samajwadi Party (SP) are yet to declare the Kaiserganj candidate, the BSP has named Narendra Pandey for the seat currently held by BJP's Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.

Due to sexual assault allegations against the former Wrestlers' Federation of India (WFI) chief Singh, his ticket is likely to be cut and given to his son Karan Singh.

The BSP changed its candidate in Sant Kabir Nagar, replacing Syed Danish with Nadeem Ashraf to challenge the sitting BJP MP Praveen Kumar Nishad. SP candidate here is former MLA Laxmikant.

Shiv Kumar Dohre has been fielded from Barabanki for a three-cornered fight with BJP's Rajrani Rawat and SP's Tanuj Punia. Dohre is Lucknow district in-charge and is contesting his maiden election.

Mehsood Ahmad will challenge sitting BJP MP Dinesh Lal Yadav 'Nirahua' in Azamgarh. SP candidate here is Akhilesh Yadav's cousin and former Budaun and Mainpuri MP Dharmendra Yadav.
