News Brief
PM Modi at Adampur air base
In an encounter with security forces in Shopian, Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), three terrorists were neutralised on Tuesday (13 May). There is a possibility of another terrorist still being in the vicinity, NDTV reported.
The confrontation originally commenced in Kulgam before moving to a forest region in Shopian. Army and paramilitary forces were engaged in combat with the terrorists for approximately two hours. The security forces were able to intercept the terrorists based on an intelligence tip-off.
The timing holds substantial importance. This occurs following Operation Sindoor, a counterstrike by India in response to the Pahalgam terrorist attack that saw 26 innocent lives brutally taken.
On the same day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Adampur Air Base in Punjab. It was one of India's airbases unsuccessfully targeted by Pakistan during the recent escalation after Operation Sindoor strikes.
Here, PM Modi was briefed by Air Force personnel and he also interacted with the soldiers at the base. The meet comes a day after the PM addressed the nation regarding the recent arm conflict.
In this address Modi clarified that no nuclear blackmail would be tolerated by India and every attack would be retaliated, targetting the roots of terrorism. "India will target terrorist centres hiding behind the nuclear threat," he said.
