Tirupati Laddu Controversy: YSRCP Moves High Court Against Animal Fat Allegations, Andhra Congress Demands CBI Inquiry

Amid allegations of the use of animal fat in Tirupati laddus when Jagan Mohan Reddy was the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has moved High Court.

The Hindu reported that the lawyers of YSRCP have sought an investigation either by a sitting judge or a court-appointed committee into the allegations by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).

After the matter was mentioned before a High Court Bench on Friday (20 September) morning, the Bench asked the petitioners to file a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) by 25 September.

This comes a day after YSRCP Rajya Sabha MP and former chairman of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Trust Board former chairman Y V Subba Reddy warned of legal action.

He claimed that Naidu's allegations not only cast aspersions on the YSRCP government and maligned Reddy but also lowered the image and sanctity of the world-renowned Hindu temple.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Congress President and Reddy's sister Y S Sharmila demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the matter and wrote to Union Home Minister Amit Shah in this regard.
