Tit-For-Tat: BJP Approaches EC Against Rahul Gandhi After Congress Complaint Over PM Modi's 'Wealth Redistribution' Remark

In a retaliatory move against the Opposition INDI bloc, the BJP has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission, flagging comments made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and seeking 'peaceful election' in West Bengal.
Dismissing the Congress's remarks, BJP leader Tarun Chugh asserted that the party's desperation stems from its inability to find suitable candidates for the upcoming elections.
Chugh stated, "The way Rahul Gandhi is conspiring to make (people) fight on the basis of language and region, we complained about that (with the Election Commission)".
"We told the Election Commission that he is a serial and habitual offender who lies, conspires and divert people's attention," he added.
PM Modi's remarks that the Congress manifesto promises to conduct surveys of people's property and redistribute gold belonging to women, was vehemently criticised by the Congress as "divisive."
The Congress delegation emphasised to the Commission that PM Modi's comments were "more egregious than any ever made by a sitting Prime Minister in the history of India" and urged for appropriate action to be taken.
Furthermore, the party also said the PM Modi and the BJP's repeated comments invoking religious sentiments "has been bolstered by the Hon'ble Commission's inaction" in penalising them for their "blatant and direct violations of electoral laws".
