The dispute over release of Cauvery water by Karnataka to Tamil Nadu has reared its head again a year after the matter reached the Supreme Court.

At an all party meeting convened by Chief Minister M K Stalin, a resolution was passed condemning the decision of the Karnataka government to release only 8000 cusecs of water as compared to the 1 TMC ordered by the Cauvery Water Regulation Committee (CWRC).

Reacting to the meeting, Karnataka deputy chief minister D K Shivakumar said that political parties in Tamil Nadu were free to meet over the issue but his government expects their cooperation, especially for the construction of the proposed reservoir at Mekedatu.
