Trials In Mathura Krishna Janmabhoomi Case To Continue As Allahabad High Court Rejects Shahi Eidgah Mosque's Plea

The Allahabad High Court on Thursday (1 August) dismissed the Shahi Eidgah Masjid Trust's plea challenging the maintainability of the plea filed by Hindus in the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi case.

The civil suit filed by Hindus demands the removal of encroachments by the Shahi Eidgah mosque from Krishna Janmabhoomi temple in Mathura.

The verdict was pronounced by a single-judge bench of Justice Mayank Kumar Jain after he reserved the judgment on 6 June after 32 hearings in the case since 18 October 2023.

The Allahabad High Court held that this civil suit is not barred by the Places of Worship Act, Waqf Act and Limitation Act. The next date of hearing is 12 August.

"The end result is that the trials will proceed and the intention and the effort to nib in the trial on the issue of maintainability has been rejected," advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain explained.

The Hindu side is also going to file the caveat before the Supreme Court so that if the Shahi Eidgah Masjid approaches the apex court, they can be present there.
