Will Make Country Free Of Infiltrators: PM Modi In Assam
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday reminded his audience in Assam of a nationwide 'demography mission' launched by his government to identify and eliminate infiltrators, expressing concern over conspiracies to change Assam's demographic composition through illegal immigration.
Speaking at development project inaugurations in Darrang, Modi said: "I have announced the launch of a nationwide demography mission which will identify infiltrators and will make the whole country free of the infiltrators," he declared.
"We don't believe in appeasement, we believe in satisfaction," Modi stated, affirming protection of farmers', youth, and tribal communities' rights.
Modi expressed particular concern over atrocities committed by infiltrators against women, vowing such acts would not be tolerated.
Chandra Nagamallaiah Beheading: Trump Vows Strong Action Against Cuban Immigrant
President Donald Trump has pledged severe consequences for an illegal Cuban immigrant who brutally murdered Chandra Nagamallaiah, a 50-year-old Indian-origin motel manager in Dallas.
"I am aware of the terrible reports regarding the murder of Chandra Nagamallaiah, a well respected person in Dallas, Texas, who was brutally beheaded, in front of his wife and son, by an ILLEGAL ALIEN from Cuba who should have never been in our Country," Trump posted on Truth Social.
The incident occurred Wednesday at Downtown Suites motel when Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, 37, attacked Nagamallaiah with a machete following a dispute over a washing machine. The victim, originally from Karnataka, fled toward the office where his wife and 18-year-old son witnessed the assault.
Trump criticised his predecessor, stating: "This individual was previously arrested for terrible crimes, including child sex abuse, grand theft auto, and false imprisonment, but was released back into our Homeland under incompetent Joe Biden."
"Rest assured, the time for being soft on these Illegal Immigrant Criminals is OVER under my watch," Trump declared, promising first-degree murder charges.
Supreme Court to Deliver Verdict on Waqf Amendment Act Today
The Supreme Court is set to pronounce judgment Monday on petitions seeking to stay implementation of the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025.
Over 100 petitioners, including Congress MP Mohammed Jawed, have challenged the law as a "creeping acquisition" of Muslim properties, arguing it undermines religious autonomy and constitutional property rights. The Kerala government and Tamil Nadu's DMK have also opposed the amendments.
The government, represented by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, defends the Act as necessary to counter "rampant encroachment" on public and private properties, asserting that waqf creation isn't an essential Islamic practice.
Key contentious provisions include Section 3C, which petitioners claim allows encroachers to dispute waqf authenticity, and Section 3D, which voids waqfs declared as protected monuments.
The case was heard over three days in May under Chief Justice B.R. Gavai, with judgment reserved since May 22.

India Won't Even Buy One Bushel Of U.S. Corn: Trump's Commerce Secretary Lutnick
Speaking in an interview Saturday, Lutnick characterized the U.S.-India trade relationship as "one way," claiming India blocks American access to its markets while freely selling to the United States. "They sell everything to us and they won't buy our corn. They put tariffs on everything," he stated.
The US Commerce Secretary warned that India must reduce its tariffs or face difficulties conducting business with America.
"You either accept it or you're going to have a tough time doing business with the world's greatest consumer," Lutnick said.
TCS Partners with C-DAC to Develop India's Sovereign Cloud Ecosystem
Tata Consultancy Services has signed a strategic partnership with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) to accelerate India's sovereign cloud development and reduce dependence on global hyperscalers.

Indian Navy Receives Indigenous Anti-Submarine Warfare Ship 'Androth'
The Indian Navy has taken delivery of 'Androth', the second of eight indigenously built anti-submarine warfare-shallow watercraft (ASW-SWC), enhancing maritime capabilities amid China's growing Indian Ocean presence.
Built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers in Kolkata, the 77-meter vessel was delivered Saturday.
Named after Androth Island in Lakshadweep, the ship symbolizes India's commitment to protecting its maritime territories.
The ASW-SWC is the largest Indian naval warship powered by a diesel engine-waterjet combination, equipped with state-of-the-art lightweight torpedoes and indigenous anti-submarine warfare rockets. These vessels strengthen the Navy's anti-submarine and coastal surveillance capabilities.
Over 80 per cent of the ship is indigenously built.
Karnataka: Congress Minister Suggests Lingayats Identify Religions As 'Others'; 'We Are Hindus', Says BJP
An old controversy around Karnataka's Lingayat community has returned ahead of the September 22 caste survey.
Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre, representing the Veerashaiva-Lingayat Mahasabha, urged community members to select 'others' in the religion column and identify as Veerashaiva-Lingayats, writing their sub-caste separately.
Opposition BJP leaders have strongly criticized this suggestion. Former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai argued that "only six religions are mentioned in the Constitution, so only the names of those religions should be written," alleging Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is exploiting the survey for political gains.
State BJP President BY Vijayendra declared: "We are Hindus and want that to be mentioned as our religion. There is no mention of Veerashaiva-Lingayat as a religion."
