Two migrant labourers were shot by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Budgam district on Friday. This incident marks the second targeted attack on migrant workers in Central Kashmir within a span of 12 days.
The injured men, identified as 25-year-old Sofiyan and Usman Malik, were admitted to JVC Hospital Bemina in Srinagar. Both are natives of Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
Employed as daily wagers with the Jal Shakti Department, Sofiyan and Usman were reported to be in stable condition following the attack.
After receiving information of the incident, security forces arrived at the scene and initiated a search operation to locate the terrorists.
The doctor and workers attacked were part of the construction team working on the Z-Morh tunnel, which connects Gaganeer to Sonamarg in Central Kashmir's Ganderbal.
On 18 October, a migrant worker from Bihar was killed by terrorists in Shopian district in South Kashmir. Local residents discovered the worker’s body, marked with bullet wounds, in the district.
Of the two terrorists involved, one was identified as a local resident from south Kashmir’s Kulgam, who reportedly joined a terrorist outfit in 2023, while the other is suspected to have come from Pakistan.
