In a move to reinforce passenger safety, the Uttar Pradesh government has approved the reservation of 46 posts from the 5th Battalion of the Uttar Pradesh Special Security Force (UPSSF), Saharanpur, for security deployment across 21 metro stations on the Noida–Greater Noida Metro Rail Corridor.

According to an order issued by Special Secretary Mahendra Singh of the state home department, Section-6, the proposal was submitted by the Additional Director General (ADG) of the UP Special Security Force, Times of India reported.

It called for the reservation of dedicated posts in light of the increasing security needs at metro stations and adjoining transport hubs.

The newly sanctioned positions include one assistant commandant, three sub-inspectors, six head constables and 36 constables. These officers will be assigned exclusively to ensure comprehensive security coverage across the Noida–Greater Noida Metro network.

The order noted that the state government had previously reserved posts for the Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS), where the 5th Battalion of UPSSF currently oversees security operations along the Noida–Greater Noida RRTS corridor, as well as at Hindon and Saharanpur airports.

Emphasising the operational importance of the decision, the special secretary stated that without reserving the proposed 46 posts, it would be difficult to maintain “operational efficiency, morale and welfare” among the deployed force.

The government, after due assessment, has therefore granted formal approval to strengthen the security framework under the 5th Battalion to meet both present and future requirements of the expanding metro corridor.

ADG (UPSSF) DK Thakur has been directed to initiate the necessary follow-up action in accordance with prescribed procedures.
