UP Religious Conversion Racket: Yogi Adityanath Vows Stern Action, Calls Activity Not Just 'Anti-Social' But Also 'Anti-National'

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has declared the activities of Jamaluddin alias Chhangur Baba, key accused in a large-scale religious conversion racket, to be “not only anti-social but also anti-national,” following preliminary investigations.

“The Uttar Pradesh government will not tolerate any laxity regarding law and order. All properties of the accused and his gang members will be confiscated, and strict legal action will be taken against them,” the Chief Minister posted on X in Hindi, emphasising his government’s commitment to the “dignity and safety of sisters and daughters.”

Jamaluddin and his aide, Neetu alias Nasreen, both from Madhpur in Balrampur district, were arrested by the Uttar Pradesh Police’s Anti-Terrorist Squad.

Police sources revealed Jamaluddin allegedly targeted girls from several communities and maintained a “rate list” for conversions, sparking widespread outrage across the state.

Uttar Pradesh State Women Commission chairperson Babita Chauhan has called for the death penalty for Jamaluddin, describing his actions as a “well-planned conspiracy” and declaring, “Our daughters are not the test labs of the poisonous ideology of forced conversion.”

In her official statement issued in Lucknow on Monday (7 July), she further asserted that those who deceive girls and rob them of their faith are enemies of society, and such criminals deserve nothing less than the death penalty.
