As hostilities between Iran and Israel continue to escalate, former US President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to Tehran, cautioning against any retaliation targeting American assets, India Today reported.
Writing on his Truth Social platform on Sunday (15 June), Trump stated, "If we are attacked in any way, shape or form by Iran, the full strength and might of the US armed forces will come down on you at levels never seen before."
The statement follows Israel’s escalation of military actions in Iran, including a strike on the Iranian defence ministry’s headquarters in Tehran and an assault on the South Pars natural gas facility in Bushehr Province, one of the largest of its kind globally.
Despite rising accusations, Trump distanced the US from Israel’s latest operations, asserting Washington’s non-involvement.
He added that he could "easily get a deal done between Iran and Israel and end this conflict," even as Iran withdrew from the sixth round of nuclear negotiations with the United States on Sunday.
In retaliation, Tehran launched Operation True Promise 3, unleashing a series of missile barrages through Saturday night and into early Sunday.
Casualties have surged on both sides. Iranian officials reported a missile strike in Tehran that hit a residential high-rise, killing at least 60 individuals, including 29 children.
Meanwhile, in northern Israel’s Galilee region, Iranian missiles struck an apartment complex, killing four and injuring several more.
Cities such as Tamra, Bat Yam, and Rehovot also bore the brunt of Iranian counterstrikes, with ten confirmed dead and over 200 wounded across the three urban centres.
