Civil service aspirants staged protests in Prayagraj demanding to hold Review Officer (RO)-Assistant Review Officer (ARO) and Provincial Civil Service (PCS) preliminary exams on the same dates.

The Monday (11 November) protest against Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) comes a week after multiple shifts for a single exam were announced.

RO-ARO preliminary exams would take place over three shifts on 22 and 23 December, while the UPPCS PCS preliminary exams are scheduled for two shifts on 7 and 8 December.

Prayagraj Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abhishek Bharti requested students to move to the designated protest site under Civil Lines police station.

Samajwadi Party (AP) national president Akhilesh Yadav expressed his support for the candidates on Sunday, stating his endorsement in a formal statement.

The youth is known to have voted for the SP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, lending substantial blow to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). If the trend continues, the ruling party will have to suffer.

Ramakant Yadav, a UPPSC candidate, explained that their decision to protest stems from the belief that holding the exams across multiple days violates established guidelines.
