The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday (17 December) presented a Supplementary Budget of Rs 17,865.72 crore for the financial year 2024-25 in the State Assembly.
State Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna, while tabling the proposal, stated that the supplementary grant of Rs 17,865 crore constitutes 2.42 per cent of the original Budget of Rs 7.36 lakh crore, which had been presented earlier in February 2024.
This marks the second Supplementary Budget for the financial year, increasing the total Budget size of Uttar Pradesh to Rs 7,66,513.36 crore.
Providing a breakdown of the allocations, the Finance Minister highlighted key provisions, including Rs 8,587.27 crore for the energy department, Rs 2,438.63 crore for the finance department, Rs 1,592.28 crore for the family welfare department, and Rs 1,001 crore for the Animal Husbandry Department.
Additionally, Rs 805 crore has been allocated to the Public Works Department (PWD), Rs 505 crore to the Information Department, and Rs 515 crore to the Primary Education Department.
He asserted, “The unemployment rate of the State was more than 19 per cent between the year 2012 and the year 2017, today this rate is at 2.4 per cent. Our government is moving in the right direction.
We have made more than 1,60,000 recruitments in the education department alone in the State. These are the vacancies that could not be filled due to the bad intentions of the previous government.”
In addition, Adityanath directed pointed remarks at Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, criticising her over her public appearance with a bag bearing the word "Palestine."
He stated, “While one Congress MP is roaming around with a ‘Palestine’ bag, the Congress leadership remains disconnected from priorities of our nation.”
