Another oxygen plant.
A 1,000 litre per minute (LPM) capacity oxygen generation plant will be set up at the base hospital in Uttarakhand's Pithorgarh district.
The development comes as the hill district in the state has been reeling under the second wave of Covid-19.
Pithoragarh is one of the largest hill district in the Uttarakhand and availability of medical oxygen at the base hospital in the hill district will help the local people amid the recent Covid surge.
The oxygen generation facility will come up with the help of Rural Elecrification Corporation (REC) Limited.
REC through its CSR arm REC Foundation has signed a Memorandum of Association (MoA) with Chief Medical Officer, Pithoragarh, committing financial assistance to the tune of Rs 1.85 crore under its CSR initiative.
As part of the project, 1000 liters per minute oxygen generation plant will be set up at Base Hospital, Pithoragarh. Along with that, 22 oxygen concentrators and 200 fowler beds with wheels will also be provided to the hospital, increasing its bed capacity from 250 to 450, an official release said.
The REC has also supported another project in the state's Udam Singh Nagar district. With REC's support, the Another project supported by the foundation, Pandit Ram Sumer Shukla Smriti Government Medical College in Udham Singh Nagar's Rudrapur has been converted into a Covid treatment center. The center has a 300-bed hospital including a 36 bed ICU ward and facilities such as an isolation center, testing center, etc.
