Uttarakhand: PM Modi To Lay Foundation Stone For Infra Development Works In Badrinath, Gangotri And Yamunotri

Amid the ongoing developmental works in Shri Kedarnath Dham, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for infrastructure development projects in Shri Badrinath Dham, Gangotri and Yamunotri on Friday (4 December).

During his visit to Dehradun, the capital city of Uttarakhand, on Friday, PM Modi will also inaugurate several projects focussed on making travel safer by tackling the problem of chronic landslides in the region.

A significant focus of PM Modi's visit will be on projects to improve road infrastructure, which will make travel smooth and safer, and also increase tourism in the region, a PMO release said on Wednesday (1 December).

"In line with the Prime Minister’s vision to develop smart spiritual towns and upgrade tourism related infrastructure, the foundation stone for infrastructure development works at Shri Badrinath Dham and Gangotri-Yamunotri Dham will be laid," the release said.

PM Modi will also inaugurate several projects that will make the travel safer in the hilly region of Garhwal. Among these projects are the landslide mitigation project at Lambagad (which is en-route the Badrinath Dham), and chronic landslide treatment at Sakanidhar, Srinagar and Devprayag on NH-58.


PM Modi will also inaugurate the road widening project from Devprayag to Srikot, and from Brahmpuri to Kodiyala on NH-58, under Chardham road connectivity project, the release said.

It should be noted that many infra development projects have been completed in Shri Kedarnath town during the tenure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Work on several projects including the Redevelopment of Sangam Ghat, First Aid and Tourist Facilitation Centre, Admin Office and Hospital, two Guest Houses etc is going on in Kedarnath Dham.

During his Uttarakhand the landslide mitigation project at Lambagad (which is en-route the Badrinath Dham), and chronic landslide treatment at Sakanidhar, Srinagar and Devprayag on NH-58. The Lambagad landslide mitigation project in the chronic landslide zone includes construction of reinforced earthwall and rockfall barriers. The location of the project further adds on to its strategic significance.
