Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board announced that the pilgrimage to the holy shrine will resume on Sunday (14 September), after workers completed essential repairs on the trekking route damaged by a landslide, reported NDTV.

The yatra had remained suspended since 26 August, when a massive landslide triggered by heavy rains struck near the Inderprastha Bhojnalaya at Adhkuwari.

The disaster killed 34 people and injured several others along the 12-kilometre trek from Katra to the shrine. Persistent rainfall further blocked the route, making it unsafe for pilgrims, while landslides on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway disrupted connectivity.

On its official X handle, the Shrine Board posted: "Jai Mata Di. Vaishno Devi Yatra to Resume from 14 September (Sunday), subject to favourable weather conditions. For details/bookings, please visit http://maavaishnodevi.org."

The suspension of the pilgrimage had disappointed thousands of devotees and dealt a heavy blow to local businesses that depend on the annual footfall. The Board thanked pilgrims for their patience and understanding during the closure.

In its statement, the Shrine Board said: "The resumption of the yatra marks a reaffirmation of our collective faith and resilience. The Board remains committed to upholding the sanctity, safety, and dignity of this revered pilgrimage."
