The Indian Army has announced that the 15th edition of Exercise Vajra Prahar 2024, a collaborative military exercise with the United States (US) Army Special Forces, is set to take place at the Orchard Combat Training Centre in Idaho, USA, from 2 November to 22 November.

According to an Indian Army statement posted on X, “The aim of Exercise Vajra Prahar is to promote military cooperation, strengthen interoperability, jointness, and mutual exchange of special operations tactics between the Indian Army and the US Army.”

The statement also included a message reinforcing the exercise’s spirit: “Two nations, one mission: Training together for peace.”

Exercise Vajra Prahar is designed to facilitate the exchange of best practices and experiences in crucial areas like joint mission planning and operational tactics.

First launched in 2010 in India, the exercise has since become an annual event. The 14th edition was held at the Umroi Cantonment in Meghalaya from 21 November to 11 December 2023.

Now a well-established framework, Exercise Vajra Prahar serves as a dynamic platform for the Indian and US Special Forces to share ideas, refine tactical practices, and strengthen defense cooperation.

It is also an essential mechanism for enhancing interoperability between the Indian Army and the US Army, reinforcing their strategic partnership in global security efforts.

This development came as Indian NSA Ajit Doval and USA’s Jake Sullivan engaged in a telephonic conversation discussing “regional security developments, underscoring the need for further efforts to ensure stability in the Indo-Pacific region and globally.”
