Vande Bharat Express trains recorded an average occupancy of over 100 per cent during the current financial year (up to February 2025), the Ministry of Railways informed the Parliament.
In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that 136 Vande Bharat train services are operational on the Indian Railways network in the country.
"As on 31st March, 2025, 136 Vande Bharat train services, having Chair Cars, are operational on the Indian Railways network," the minister said.
In reply to a question on the number of proposed Vande Bharat Express trains and the number of trains expected to start in the country, the minister said, "Railway network straddles across State boundaries. Accordingly, trains are introduced as per network requirement across such boundaries".
"Introduction of new train services and provision of stoppage of existing train services, including Vande Bharat services, is an ongoing process on Indian Railways subject to traffic justification, operational feasibility, resource availability, etc." he added.
