Varanasi To Host Fourth Edition Of Kashi Tamil Sangamam From 2 December

The ancient city of Varanasi is set to once again become the meeting ground of two great cultural streams, as it prepares to host the Kashi Tamil Sangamam 2025 (KTS 4.0) from 2 December.

The two-week celebration will bring together over 1,400 delegates from Tamil Nadu, representing seven diverse groups — students, teachers, writers and media professionals, agriculturists, artisans, women, and spiritual scholars.

Centred around the theme “Let us Learn Tamil – Karpom Tamil”, this year’s edition aims to reaffirm the unity of India’s linguistic and cultural landscape.

The initiative underscores that all Indian languages belong to one “Bharatiya Bhasha family”, promoting Tamil as an integral part of India’s collective heritage.

Beyond cultural festivities, KTS 4.0 introduces two new ventures — “Tamil Karpom”, a programme designed to help students from northern India learn Tamil in Tamil Nadu, and the “Agasthya Expedition”, a symbolic journey from Tenkasi to Kashi celebrating Tamil Nadu’s timeless contributions to the nation’s spiritual and intellectual fabric.

The Kashi Tamil Sangamam began in 2022, with over 2,500 participants from Tamil Nadu exploring Varanasi, Prayagraj, and Ayodhya in an immersive cultural exchange.

KTS 2.0 (2023), inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Namo Ghat, introduced real-time Tamil translation of his address.

KTS 3.0 (2025) celebrated Sage Agasthyar’s legacy, blending traditional wisdom with modern thought, drawing over 1,000 delegates and 200 university students.
