Former Congress minister B Shivaramu has accused his own party of engaging in corruption.

He pointed out that the Congress, which had previously criticised the BJP government for corruption during their tenure, is now facing similar issues.

During the election campaigning for Karnataka Assembly polls in 2023, the Congress had raised the issue of '40 per cent commission' to target the BJP government.

"I conveyed this directly to the Chief Minister— our district (Hassan) is gaining a negative reputation. Back in the BJP era, we accused them of 40 per cent corruption; now, it exceeds that,” the former Congress MLA said, India Today reported.

He said that the corruption issue needs to be addressed as there are party workers who feel the same way as him.

“I am stating this straightforwardly, and it's not just me; most of the candidates who lost (in last year’s state Assembly polls) are expressing the same. For the party to endure, this needs to be addressed. If I openly discuss this, I am labelled a bad person," Shivaramu said.
