West Bengal: BJP's Central Team To Reach Kolkata To Take Stock Of Post-Poll Violence, Here's Plan

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president J P Nadda formed a central team led by former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb to take stock of the post-poll violence in West Bengal.

The team comprising West Tripura MP Deb, Patna Sahib MP Ravi Shankar Prasad and Rajya Sabha MPs Brij Lal and Kavita Patidar was formed yesterday and is set to reach Kolkata today (16 June).

The first task of the team will be to meet the victims of post-poll violence at Kolkata's Maheshwari Bhavan. Tomorrow they will go to Diamond Harbour, Sandeshkhali and Basanti, Jagran reported.

Taking note of the violence, the Calcutta High Court has already extended the deployment of Central Reserved Police Force (CRPF) battalions till 21 June and is set to hear the matter on 18 June.

Siliguri BJP MP Raju Bista has urged the intervention of the Centre and President in West Bengal, while another MP and BJP's West Bengal head, Sukanta Majumdar urged to think why such incidents happen in Bengal.

The ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) won 29 seats in the state, while the main opposition BJP won 12 seats. Congress was able to win a single seat while its Bengal president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury lost.
