The BJP along with several Hindu organisations, organised protests on Tuesday (10 December) at Ghojadanga, near the Bangladesh border in Basirhat, North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal.

The demonstration was held in protest against the persecution of religious minorities in Bangladesh.

BJP's Suvendu Adhikari, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly, spearheaded the protest and highlighted the deteriorating situations in Bangladesh.

“We don’t depend on Bangladesh. Bangladesh depends on us… If we do not send 97 products, you will not get rice and clothes. If we do not send the electricity produced from Jharkhand, 80 per cent of the villages will not be lit,” the BJP MLA said.

He further urged an end to the attacks on Hindus, saying, “Please stop atrocities, stop vandalising our temples. On the 16th (of December), we will hold a big meeting. (Mohd) Yunus’ government is not a government; they are extremists. They are radical, they are anti-human. They are just like the Taliban. Yunus’ government has removed the valid government of Sheikh Hasina.”

Adhikari expressed confidence in Sheikh Hasina's reinstatement as Bangladesh's Prime Minister.

“Sheikh Hasina is the legitimate Prime Minister. They (Yunus) are illegal. Sheikh Hasina as Prime Minister will land in Dhaka Airport. They have to receive her with a salute,” he said.
