Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday (1 August) highlighted the falling crime rate in the state since the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power in 2017.

Referring to a case from Ayodhya where a minor girl was raped and impregnated, Adityanath said, "Samajwadi Party (SP) leader, part of Faizabad MP (Awadhesh Prasad)'s team Moeen Khan is accused."

The UP CM pointed out that the SP has not yet take action against him and said, "He is your (SP) active member. He is seen around your MP. The girl belongs to the Extreme Backward Class (EBC), yet you are taking the matter lightly."

Referring to another case from Hardoi where an advocate was murdered, Adityanath said that the accused here is Birendra Yadav, former district president of SP and has 28 cases against him starting from 1989 including that of the Goonda Act.

"Those who spread anarchy in the state, it's my responsibility to make them pay. If I wanted to gain fame, I would have gained that at my math but I am here to work for the people," the UP CM said.

He referred to another incident from Gomti Nagar in Lucknow where some men were seen eve-teasing a woman on a two-wheeler during rains and said that the accused in that case are Pawan Yadav and Mohammad Arbaaz.

Taking a jibe at SP's Muslim-Yadav (MY) formula, Adityanath said, "These are sadbhavna people. We will not run sadbhavna train for them, but a bullet train," adding that women safety is the priority of his government.

He said that the complete staff of the police station including the inspector has been suspended. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Additional SP and District Commissioner of Police have also been transferred.
