On Sunday (22 June), Union Home Minister Amit Shah reiterated the Centre’s goal to eliminate Maoism by March 2026, speaking in Nava Raipur, Chhattisgarh, during a foundation stone-laying ceremony for two major forensic institutions. “This time, we will not let them sleep through the monsoon,” he declared, ruling out further dialogue and urging Maoist cadres to surrender under the state’s rehabilitation policy.
As reported by NDTV, Shah addressed the youth of Chhattisgarh, encouraging careers in forensic science, which he described as a “sunrise industry.” The event marked the launch of the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) campus and the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL), a Rs 268 crore initiative aimed at modernising India’s criminal justice system.
He highlighted that the global forensic tech market, currently worth $20 billion, is projected to reach $55 billion by 2036, with India contributing 9% to the growth.
Shah also inaugurated Chhattisgarh’s Innovation Hub (i-Hub), calling it a launchpad for youth-led entrepreneurship, particularly in the MSME sector. The day’s event coincided with the 25th anniversary of Chhattisgarh’s formation, being observed as Atal Nirman Varsh. Shah lauded the state for swiftly implementing new criminal laws to ensure timely justice delivery.
