UP CM Yogi Adityanath
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister on Monday (15 July) directed officials to maintain law and order in the state during the festivals.
Chairing a review meeting on flood, and law and order situation in the state, the UP Chief Minister also instructed the officials to ensure that no new tradition is started during the upcoming festivals.
"Ensure that the general public is provided with essential facilities during festivals. Respect religious traditions and beliefs, but do not let anyone engage in activities that violate the traditions. Ensure no incidents occur that could hurt the sentiments of people from other religions," CM Yogi instructed officials.
"Anarchy in the name of religious events will not be tolerated. Deal strictly with unruly elements. Make all necessary efforts, considering local needs, to ensure that every festival is celebrated peacefully and harmoniously," CM Yogi added.
All religious activities should be held in peace and to ensure that all arrangements should be made as per local needs, Yogi added.
During the meeting, the Uttar Pradesh CM also directed officials to ensure assistance to flood victims within 24 hours.
“The government is there with every flood victim. There should be no compromise with quality of relief material,” he said, Hindustan Times reported.
The officials told CM Yogi that around 14.80 lakh people in 1,571 villages in 20 districts are affected by the flood.
A total 5.29 lakh people have suffered damage to house, agriculture and livestock due to the flood, the officials said.
“Ensure financial assistance reaches flood victims within 24 hours if they have suffered loss to property and land,” the CM said.
