World Unites In Condemnation Of Pahalgam Terror Attack; Trump, Global Leaders Extend Support To India

World leaders have strongly condemned the brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 people were killed and several others were injured on Tuesday (22 April).

From Washington to Wellington, governments rallied behind India, voicing grief, outrage, and solidarity.

US President Donald Trump expressed his firm support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the victims of the attack.

Posting on Truth Social, he wrote, "Deeply disturbing news out of Kashmir. The United States stands strong with India against Terrorism. We pray for the souls of those lost, and for the recovery of the injured. Prime Minister Modi, and the incredible people of India, have our full support and deepest sympathies. Our hearts are with you all!"

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio reiterated, "The United States stands with India."

The US State Department's Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs added, "The United States strongly condemns the terrorist attack in Kashmir. Nothing can justify such a heinous act killing tourists and civilians. Our thoughts are with those who have lost their loved ones. We continue to monitor the situation and call for perpetrators to be held accountable."

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that Trump would speak with Modi, noting, "The President has been briefed by the National Security Advisor."

She added, "President Trump will be speaking with Prime Minister Modi as soon as he possibly can to express his heartfelt condolences for those lost and our prayers are with those injured and our nation's support for our ally India."

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer posted on X: "The horrific terrorist attack in Kashmir today is utterly devastating. My thoughts are with those affected, their loved ones, and the people of India."


European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated, "The vile terror attack in Pahalgam today stole so many innocent lives... I know that India’s spirit is unbreakable. You will stand strong in this ordeal. And Europe will stand with you."

Australian PM Anthony Albanese called the attack “horrific”, saying, "There is no justification for this violence and Australia condemns it. Our hearts go out to the injured, to those mourning loved ones and to everyone in Australia touched by this terrible news."

The governments of New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Ukraine, UAE, and public figures such as Vivek Ramaswamy also offered solidarity and urged justice for the victims.

"This was a horrific attack. We extend our condolences to the families of those who died & our prayers for those who were injured to recover quickly." Ramaswamy wrote.

Back home, Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-level security review in Srinagar with J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, LG Manoj Sinha, and other top officials.

Security forces launched an intensive search operation in Baisaran, Pahalgam, to apprehend the perpetrators. 'The Resistance Front' which is a Lashkar-e-Taiba proxy has taken responsibility of the terrorist attack.

Prime Minister Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman have cut short their overseas visits in response to the attack.
