Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday (4 July) directed state officials to identify a slum in each municipal corporation and prepare a plan for the development of a multi-storey residential complex with basic facilities like schools, markets and parks in the vicinity.

He also instructed officials to ensure that the market developed there is allotted to the families of the slum.

The chief minister gave these directions while reviewing the progress of various projects in a meeting with the Urban Development Department in Lucknow on Thursday.

"There should be basic facilities like schools, markets, parks, etc near these residential complexes. Market developed should be allotted to the families of people living in respective slums. The responsibility of operating parks built should also be given to them," Yogi said in the meeting, Hindustan Times reported.

"In this way, slums will be rehabilitated in the entire state in a phased manner. This effort will be very useful in improving the living standards of the people there," he added.

On increasing parking issues in the city, he said that the government, administration and the public need to work together to find a solution.

Stating that multi-level parking lots are proving very useful, he called for the inclusion of commercial spaces in the multi-level parking.

He asked the officials to plan for new parking spaces only after studying local requirements and evolving ‘Parking Space Rules’ for better parking facilities in the future.
