Yogi Adityanath Pushes For Regulated Private E-Bus Services In UP City Transport Services

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to allow the expansion of private e-bus operators in the city bus transport services.
Chairing a high-level review meeting with the Urban Development Department on Wednesday (17 April), the Chief Minister, according to an official statement, emphasised the need to connect the major towns and cities for the convenience of the general public.
"Opportunities should be provided to private e-bus operators in city transport services, while ensuring regulation of fare, designated routes and parking facilities," he said, Hindustan Times reported.
He also directed that diesel and CNG buses over 15 years old be phased out and replaced with electric alternatives.
At present, 700 e-buses are operational in 15 cities of the state.
On urban parking challenges, the CM urged demand, space and time based slot planning with uniform fees and monthly passes for employees of local offices and businesses.
"Give preference to electronic display boards instead of hazardous hoardings. Ensure no hoarding distorts or disrespects images or statues of great personalities," he said.
He directed standardisation of procedures and fees for property mutation, registration, and will-related processes across all urban bodies.
He unveiled a plan to convert all district HQ municipal councils into “smart urban bodies” with digital systems, green energy, smart lighting, libraries, parking, and pollution tracking.
The budget has already been allocated, and departments have been asked to prepare detailed project plans for the development.
