Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said that the disappointment shared by President Droupadi Murmu on the gruesome rape and murder of a Kolkata lady doctor highlights the "extreme indifference and unpardonable insensitivity" of the state government towards the safety of women.

In her first public comment on the Kolkata rape and murder case, President Murmu expressed her dismay and horror over the incident.

Speaking to news agency PTI, President Murmu stated, "Enough is enough," highlighting the urgent need for a societal overhaul to prevent such heinous crimes against women.

In a post on X, CM Yogi also accused the TMC government of having an authoritarian and anti-women approach, which he claimed brings shame to democracy, dishonors humanity, and disgraces a civilized society.

He added that the TMC government's "authoritarian and anti-women conduct undoubtedly brings shame to democracy, dishonors humanity, and disgraces a civilised society".

"In 'Amar Shonar Bangla,' a sacred land that upholds the culture of worshipping goddess, the government's complete failure to ensure the safety of women demands an immediate apology to all women and the nation," he added.
