The Centre on Tuesday (22 July) provided updates on the proposed industrial corridor development in Telangana.
In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada shared the details regarding the status of Hyderabad–Nagpur and Hyderabad–Warangal industrial corridors and the overall funding and implementation plans.
The minister confirmed that the Centre has approved Telangana’s proposal for the development of Zaheerabad Industrial Area as part of the Hyderabad–Nagpur Industrial Corridor (HNIC).
Located in Sangareddy district, it has been identified as a priority node as part of the HNIC under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme (NICDP).
According to the government’s response, the project will cover an activation area of 3,245 acres with an estimated total cost of Rs 2,360 crore.
The Centre’s contribution, routed through the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT), has been approved to the tune of Rs 596 crore in equity and Rs 655 crore as debt.
A Special Purpose Vehicle, “NICDIT Zaheerabad Industrial Smart City Ltd,” has been incorporated to implement the project. The tendering process for the Project Management for New Cities (PMNC) has already begun.
