AAP Propaganda Effect? Delhi Police Postpones Questioning Arvind Kejriwal's Parents In Swati Maliwal Assault Case

The Delhi Police will not visit Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal's residence on Thursday (23 May) to question his parents regarding the alleged assault on AAP MP Swati Maliwal.

Reports of the deferment surfaced after senior AAP leaders, including Sanjay Singh and Atishi, gathered at the chief minister's house to show support for his parents.

Earlier on Wednesday, Arvind Kejriwal had announced on X (formerly Twitter) that the Delhi Police intended to question his "elderly and ill" parents today.

On Thursday morning, AAP shared videos of Kejriwal guiding his parents, who appeared to be walking with difficulty, to a room in his residence in preparation for the questioning.

Later, Kejriwal posted on X in Hindi, stating that he was waiting for the police with his wife and parents. "Yesterday the police called and asked for time to interrogate my parents. But they have not yet given any information about whether they will come or not," he said.

While some netizens expressed sympathy with Delhi CM, many also slammed Kejriwal for visiting his aged parents and posting videos with them as an attempt to garner sympathy from the people of Delhi at a time when he is facing prosecution in Delhi excise case. Kejriwal is currently out on bail.
