After Clashes Between Myanmar Military And Rebel Armies, 151 Soldiers Seek Refuge In Mizoram

In the northern part of Shan state, ongoing clashes have occurred since 27 October, involving the Arakan Army, the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army, and the Ta'ang National Liberation Army — collectively known as the Three Brotherhood Alliance as reported by Hindustan Times.
According to a report from PTI, 151 Myanmar soldiers entered Mizoram's Lawngtlai district after their camps in Myanmar were attacked.
This well-trained and well-armed ethnic militia coalition launched a coordinated offensive, presenting a significant challenge to the Myanmar military.
The military, grappling with a nationwide uprising by the People's Defence Forces, has faced difficulties in containing the situation since seizing power from the elected government of Aung San Suu Kyi in February 2021.
The Three Brotherhood Alliance has reported notable successes, including capturing four border crossings in the northern part of Shan state.
Following these developments, the military government acknowledged losing three towns and vowed counterattacks against the alliance. The conflict has extended to Rakhine in the west, where the Arakan Army attacked outposts.
The situation remains complex and dynamic, with ongoing talks between the Ministry of external affairs (MEA) and the Myanmar military government to facilitate the return of fleeing soldiers to Myanmar.
In November, 104 Myanmar soldiers sought refuge in Mizoram after their military camps along the Myanmar-India border were overrun by the People's Defence Force, a pro-democracy militia.
They were subsequently airlifted by the Indian Air Force to Moreh in Manipur and crossed the international border to Tamu in Myanmar.
Recently, 151 Myanmar Army personnel fled their camps, crossing the international border and reaching Tuisentlang in Mizoram's Lawngtlai district.
The Assam Rifles provided first aid to the critically injured soldiers, who are now under the safe custody of the Assam Rifles at Parva in Lawngtlai district.
Talks between the MEA and the Myanmar military government are ongoing, intending to repatriate the fleeing soldiers in the coming days.
