After ED, Now CBI Arrests BRS Leader K Kavitha In Delhi Liquor Policy Case

K Kavitha, a leader of the Bharat Rasthra Samithi (BRS) and daughter of former Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao, was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday (11 April) in connection with a corruption case related to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam.
She was taken into custody from Tihar Jail, where she had been held following her arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) according to a report from The New Indian Express.
CBI officials had recently interrogated Kavitha within the prison premises with permission from a special court.
The questioning focused on WhatsApp chats recovered from co-accused Buchi Babu's phone and documents related to a land deal.
These conversations and documents allegedly indicate a payment of Rs 100 crore in kickbacks to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to influence the excise policy in favor of a liquor lobby.
Sources quoted in the report revealed that the CBI team visited Tihar Jail on Saturday to question Kavitha regarding these specific aspects of the case.
Kavitha, aged 46, was previously arrested by the ED from her residence in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, on 15 March.
The BRS leader is accused of being a key member of the "South Group," which allegedly paid the ruling AAP in Delhi kickbacks of Rs 100 crore in return for a big share of liquor licences in the national capital.
She was sent to 14-day judicial custody last Tuesday.
