All Is Not Well In YSRCP? Narasaraopet MP Devarayalu Is Third To Leave Party Ahead Of Andhra Pradesh Elections

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy.

In a recent blow to the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), Member of Parliament Lavu Srikrishna Devarayalu, representing Narasaraopet in Andhra Pradesh, has resigned from both the Lok Sabha and the party.

Devarayalu is the third MP to step down from the YSRCP in the wake of disagreements over seat allocations.

Earlier this month, Kurnool MP Sanjeev Kumar and Machilipatnam MP Vallabhaneni Balashowry had also parted ways with the party.

Expressing disillusionment and confusion, Devarayalu cited the party's decision to shift him to the Guntur Lok Sabha constituency as the primary reason for his resignation.

“All seven YSRCP MLAs under the Narasaraopet Lok Sabha seat are backing me for renomination from here, but the party has different ideas. I was not consulted before the party decided not to renominate me from Narasaraopet, and cannot continue anymore,” Devarayalu said.

This development comes amid the changing political landscape in Andhra Pradesh which is gearing up for elections to the 175-member Assembly and 25 Lok Sabha seats in about three months.

Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has appointed new coordinators and in-charges in at least 65 Assembly and 15 Lok Sabha constituencies.

These coordinators and in-charges would be the YSRCP candidates in the upcoming polls.

As per reports by Indian Express, among the other leaders who are likely to be dropped are Visakhapatnam MP M V V Satyanarayana, Tirupati MP M Gurumurth, and Kakinada MP V Geetha.
