Complaints continue to flow in against Kasaragod Coronavirus positive patient Ameer B, who is reportedly involved in gold smuggling and is feared to have exposed at least 3,000 people to Covid-19, in Kerala’s northern districts.

The latest complaint against Ameer B is that he is misbehaving at the isolation ward in the Kasaragod Government Hospital where he is under treatment.

Kerala Kaumudi daily reported that the cantankerous patient is not cooperating with hospital authorities and their instructions.

Initially, Ameer B, who is being given VIP treatment at the hospital, threw a tantrum demanding a room with a window. The authorities met his demand.

The room has a wash basin and a bathroom, but the patient is reportedly spitting through the window, endangering the entire surroundings. Officials are a little reluctant to make him heed their instructions and orders.

Ameer B, a resident of Eriyal in Kasaragod district, was asked to be in self-quarantine but he went on a travel- and visit-spree, attending two marriages, a funeral, a child naming ceremony and a football match.

The patient reportedly had fever when he landed but did not seek immediate treatment. He opted to go to the Kasaragod Government Hospital only after another person in the city tested positive for the pandemic virus.

The hospital authorities asked him to get admitted in the isolation ward until results of the tests came, but he went away saying he would return if the situation aggravated. It was only after his tests returned positive, that he was put in the isolation ward of the hospital.

He is yet to come clean on his visits and travel. The main reason for his reluctance seems to stem from the fact that he is allegedly involved in smuggling gold.

Fifteen more persons tested positive for Coronavirus on Sunday (23 March). So far, 67 persons have been affected by the outbreak till now, though five have recovered from it.

About 60,000 persons are being monitored by the Kerala government for symptoms of the pandemic with about 59,000 of them under home quarantine.
