Among Those Killed In Reasi Terror Attack Are Four Members Of Same Family, Including A Two-Year-Old Boy
Mamta, Rajendra, Titu, Pooja and Pawan. Only Pawan has survived
Among the at least nine killed in the Reasi terror attack by an Islamist group were four members of the same family, including a two-year-old.
The family hailed from Jaipur in Rajasthan and had left their home on 6 June for a visit to the revered shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi in Jammu city in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The terror attack took place on Sunday evening (9 June) around 6.15 in Teryath village of Reasi area when gunmen indiscriminately fired on a bus carrying pilgrims from the Shiv Khori temple to Katra, causing the bus to fall into a gorge. The terrorists reportedly continued firing on the pilgrims. At least 38 pilgrims were left injured and are currently undergoing treatment.
A survivor told the media that they pretended to be dead to escape being fired upon.
The members of this family from Jaipur who went on the pilgrimage included Pawan Saini, his wife Pooja Saini, their son Levansh (nickname Titu), and Pooja’s paternal uncle and aunt, Rajendra and Mamta.
Only Pawan survived, and he has been discharged from the hospital. Titu was only two years old.
A Pakistan-backed group named The Resistance Front, which is an offshoot of the Lashkar-e-Taiba, has claimed responsibility for the terror attack.
As per reports, the terror group has warned of more attacks on "tourists and non-locals", while calling the Reasi attack the "beginning of a renewed start".
