Bengaluru Water Crisis: Tanker Spotted At CM Siddaramaiah's Home Office, DK Shivakumar's Borewell Dried Up

Bengaluru is facing such a water crisis that even Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar are not untouched by it.
While Shivakumar said that even the borewell at his home had dried up, a water tanker was spotted entering Siddaramaiah's home office, News18 reported.
The Deputy CM promised to ensure an adequate water supply to Bengaluru "at any cost" and said that prices for water tankers will be standarised.
Groundwater levels have depleted and over 3,000 borewells have dried up. The problem is more severe in East Bengaluru. Residential societies have been asked to be careful with water usage.
The Karnataka government used this crisis as an opportunity to target the Centre and criticised it for not approving the Mekedatu reservoir project.
"We had initiated the Mekedatu project with the very intention of securing water supply for Bengaluru. The Centre should at least approve the project at least now given the severity of the crisis," Shivakumar said.
He also asked private water tankers to get themselves registered by 7 March. To address drinking water issues, a grant of Rs 10 crore is planned for Bengaluru's each Assembly constituency.
