Bengaluru’s Municipal Corporation Mandates 100 Per Cent Vaccination For All Employees At Commercial Establishments By End Of August
- Karnataka government has decided to allow the operation of most commercial establishments in Bengaluru with conditions to comply with all Covid protocols and employers ensuring 100 per cent vaccination of their working staff.

Even as Bengaluru began to see a decline in Covid numbers and containment zones, the state government decided to allow the operation of most commercial establishments in the capital city with a condition to comply with all covid protocols.
But as an additional precautionary measure, the city’s municipal corporation Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palika (BBMP) mandated 100 per cent vaccination of the working staff in all establishments with at least one dose by 31 August 2021.
As per the circular issued by the Chief Commissioner of BBMP, the employers should ensure 100 per cent vaccination of their working staff either at government/BBMP vaccination centres or at private hospitals at employers cost.
”It is an established fact that the risk of Covid-19 transmission is higher in closed spaces. As a measure to contain the transmission of virus and prevent any further surge of Covid-19 case in the city, it is essential to ensure the staff of commecial establishments/industries/hotels and restaurants/offices do not get infected and thereafter spread the infection to customers and public visiting such places,” read the circular.
Employers are also required to maintain proof of their vaccination status at their workplace and ‘produce the same as and when enquired’. BBMP Marshals and health officials have been authorised to enter any commercial enterprise during working hours to check compliance with this rule starting 1 September 2021.
The BBMP also launched its mega vaccination drive ‘Covid19 Lasikaa Mela’ today (27 August) with an aim to vaccinate around 1.25 lakh people in its administrative limits. The mega campaign aims to conduct 100 per cent vaccination of health workers and frontline workers pending with both first doses as well as second doses, persons above 60 years of age, teaching and non-teaching staffs of school and pre-university colleges and all eligible beneficiaries of the vaccine above 18 years of age.
