Bihar BJP Chief Samrat Choudhary Takes Off His Turban After Completing Vow Against CM Nitish Kumar, Dedicates To Lord Ram

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Bihar president Samrat Choudhary took off his turban on Wednesday (3 July) after taking a dip in the Saryu river in Ayodhya.

He had vowed not to take off his turban until he "dethrones" Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar after the Janata Dal (United) [JD(U)] chief had formed a coalition with Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in 2022.

While Kumar is still the CM, he now leads the Bihar government with the support of the BJP. He had come back to the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) fold earlier this year.

After this, Choudhary became Bihar Deputy CM along with Vijay Kumar Sinha. JD(U) is also supporting the Narendra Modi government at the Centre as the BJP fell short of a majority.

Other than the Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir, Choudhary also had a darshan at Hanumangarhi temple in Ayodhya. Taking off his turban after 22 months, he surrendered before Lord Ram.

"True that I had pledged to wear the turban until I made Nitish Kumar resign as the CM. But now that he has switched back to the NDA after resigning as the CM of the INDI Alliance, it is time for me to dedicate this turban to the feet of Lord Ram," he explained.

"The day Nitish Kumar ji resigned as the Chief Minister of the INDI Alliance and joined back the NDA, I announced that I would dedicate my turban to Lord Ram," Choudhary added.
