Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel

In a recent development, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed a supplementary charge sheet on 1 January, under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, naming former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, as reported by The Times Of India.

The charges stem from the Mahadev App case, accusing Baghel of receiving bribes totaling around Rs 508 crore from the app's promoters.

This move has triggered allegations of corruption against the Congress party by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The charge sheet lists several other accused individuals, including Subham Soni, Anil Kumar Agrawal (alias Atul Agrawal), Rohit Gulati, Bhim Singh Yadav, and Asim Das.

Subham Soni's revelations during the investigation implicated Baghel, and Asim Das disclosed that Soni instructed him to deliver a substantial cash amount to Baghel, backed by a voice message found on Das's phone.

The ED's findings also revealed that Das was summoned to Dubai by Soni, where he received cash to be delivered to Baghel.

BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla sharply criticized the Congress, stating, "For Congress party CM never meant chief minister; it only meant corruption minister."

Poonawalla also accused the Congress of treating Chhattisgarh as an ATM and questioned whether the party would continue to defend such actions.
