Encouraging people to join a big "Jan Chetna Maharally" on 5 June (Monday), posters of BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, donning an orange turban, have been seen across Ayodhya.

According to a report by The Print, the rally would be organized in Uttar Pradesh with support of seers, saints, and sages, seeking dilution of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POSCO) Act. Brij Bhushan Singh, who facing two FIRs for sexual harassment allegations from the protesting women wrestlers, including one under POCSO, is mobilizing efforts to lead the rally.

Erstwhile Wrestling Federation of India President and BJP MP, Brij Bhushan Singh is backed by several mutts in Ayodhya, where he has strong roots. While he has been accused of sexual harassment, he continues to receive significant support from his followers who refer to him as "netaji." The upcoming rally is considered a demonstration of his influence and support base.

In the meanwhile, according to a report, Singh has been traveling in the Awadh and Purvanchal regions to get ready for the upcoming rally. He has visited several areas, including Bahraich, Shravasti, Basti, Gonda, and Balrampur, over the past two weeks to gather support for the rally event.

Notably, Mahant Balram Das of the Sagariya Patti of the Hanumangarhi Temple had expressed his concern that the POCSO law must not be misused and that the accused should be given the right to speak after serious allegations are made. He further stated that such misuse often result in the loss of respect for the accused, and their honor cannot be restored if they are found not guilty.

Meanwhile, the BJP has not endorsed the upcoming protest rally, claiming that it is not supported by the party. Sanjay Shukla, a BJP councillor clarified that the rally was organized by saints, not by the party, and hence party workers would not be participating.
