WFI Chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh (Facebook)
The Delhi Police is likely to file a chargesheet today (15 June) in connection with the sexual harassment allegations against Wresting Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
Earlier on 7 June, Olympic medal-winning wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Sakshee Malikkh had met Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur.
During the meeting, Thakur had assured the wrestlers that a chargesheet in the case would be filed by 15 June, reports NDTV.
Following the assurance from the minister, the wrestlers suspended their protests.
The Delhi Police have contacted the wrestling federations of five countries to request information about alleged sexual harassment incidents involving Singh.
The federations are yet to respond, however, once information is obtained, it will be added to a supplementary chargesheet.
In an attempt to gather evidence, the probe team sent notices to wrestling federations in five countries requesting any photos, videos, or CCTV footage of tournaments and accommodations used during their matches.
On Friday, the Delhi Police took a female wrestler to the office of the wrestling body chief, as part of its probe into accusations of sexual harassment against him.
The wrestler was accompanied by a team of women police officers. The office of the wrestling federation is located in Singh's official residence.
As part of the ongoing probe into the allegations, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Delhi police has questioned more than 180 individuals and filed two FIRs against Singh.
