Chhattisgarh: 50 Maoists Neutralised In 2024 So Far, Doubling Last Year's Count

In two recent encounters between security forces and Maoists in the Bastar region, four Maoists have been neutralised, bringing this year's tally to 50 in Chhattisgarh alone.
As reported by Indian Express, this figure surpasses last year's count by more than double and exceeds the total since 2020.
In 2023, 24 Maoists were killed by the security personnel, while in 2022, 30 were killed.
The figure stood at 47 in 2021, 36 in 2020 and 65 in 2019.
The most recent clash occurred on Saturday (6 April) morning in Bijapur district, where three Maoists were eliminated in the Doligatta jungle on the Telangana-Chhattisgarh border.
"One light machine gun, an AK47, and substantial quantities of arms and ammunition were seized from the site," reported Inspector General of Police for Bastar range, Sundarraj P.
In a separate encounter on Friday (5 April) along the Dantewada-Bijapur border, another Maoist was neutralised, with weapons and supplies recovered.
The skirmish unfolded in a jungle within the Kirandul police station limits.
Of the 50 Maoists eliminated this year, the majority were in Bijapur (33), followed by Dantewada (6), Kanker (5), Sukma (4), and Narayanapur (2).
As operations continue, authorities remain vigilant, aiming to maintain peace and stability in the Bastar region.
